By merging two of the biggest
and most respected names in the
domestic onion industry, we not
only increase our numbers but
also, build on our legacy. Our
individual histories go back
decades, with Murakami Produce
started in 1969 by the late Sig
Murakami as the packing and
shipping arm of Murakami Farms.
Grant Kitamura joined the operation
in 1980 and has seen the
company grow significantly over
the years. In 1972 Jerry Baker
launched the Ontario onion
division of DeBruyn Produce, and
his son, Steve, joined the company
in 1984. In 1997 it became
Baker Packing, a major
year-round shipper of domestic
onions. The two operations have
long been formidable separately;
now, as Baker & Murakami
Produce Company, our united
team is unstoppable.
